Franklin Park Chiropractic offers light therapy treatment for arthritic joints, jaw problems, sinus problems, wrist and carpal tunnel problems and foot related problems. Our office is one of the few offices in this area to offer light therapy.
Light therapy can also be used over open wounds to promote accelerated healing and over post-surgical scars (such as knee scars) to reduce healing time and external scarring.
Light therapy has been used in Europe for over 25 years. It has gone through stringent regulatory processes and has been cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
What is Light Therapy?
On a cellular level, light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria and transformed into bio-chemical energy that is available for cell use. As a result, cell function is modulated and normalized in treated tissue. Given that all cell types can absorb light, the range of effects are seen broadly -- in the nervous, skeletal, immune, vascular and lymphatic systems.
Light therapy is a proven and highly effective treatment that increases circulation, accelerates tissue repair, decreases inflammation and swelling, strengthens and repairs bone & muscle, and increases mobility & muscle function.
Light therapy can be used for conditions such as:
- Arthritis
- Tendonitis
- Wound healing
- Repetitive stress injuries (carpal tunnel syndrome)
- Acute & chronic pain
- Soft tissue injuries
- Strains & sprains
Using light therapy:
- Patients experience no discomfort during treatment sessions
- Positive results for acute conditions are often evident after 1-2 treatments
- Chronic conditions typically respond after 5-6 treatments
- Total number of treatments can vary from 6-15 for acute conditions and 10-25 for chronic conditions
